The Prayer Principle - Getting through to God by Michael Baughen

One of the things I find so difficult as someone coming back to the church after a long time away is that everyone’s answer to everything is ‘just pray’. It sounds so simple doesn’t it? But how do I pray? Why should I pray? Why do we pray the way we do?

These were the questions I found myself asking and frustratingly the answers I got seemed to assume I had knowledge. I didn’t, or didn’t understand my curious investigative nature that needed to know the why of everything.

So while everyone was praying more at lent I decided to take the time to understand fully what prayer was, how to do it and why to do it. This led me to purchase four books – I don’t do anything by halves – the first one of which I have gleefully finished.

I LOVED this book, I found it practical, insightful, and easy to understand, all really important points to me.  This book acts somewhat of a guide for Christians seeking a more fulfilling prayer life.

Drawing from scripture and personal experiences, Baughen provides practical advice to deepen one’s connection with God through prayer.

I found his approach both instructional and motivational, making complex theological concepts accessible. And more importantly for me it gave me the ‘why’ of everything. In fact this morning I even found myself starting my own prayer practice based on the principles within this book.

For me The Prayer Principle is a valuable read for anyone looking to deepen their prayer life. Its practical guidance and motivational tone make it suitable for both new believers and seasoned Christians seeking renewal in their spiritual practices.

I would highly recommend this book, a 5-star gem for me.
